NERI OXMAN

As I noticed the subject of this blog, I immediately thought about Neri Oxman, an architect and designer who is israeli-american. Nowadays she is a teacher in MIT, a technology institute in Massachusetts. At this institute, she developed her investigation with the group Mediated Matter, and it's recognized for combining design, biology, tech, and ingenierie in the development of materials.

Oxman developed a concept of material ecology, with the purpose of defining her work where she fusion ambient design and digital morphogenesis. Her work is often inspired by nature and biology and she uses modeling tools, 3D printing and fabrication techniques such as Silk Pavilion, which is a yarn made of silk worms in a nylon frame. Ocean Pavillion, a fabrication platform based on water who built chitosan structures. She made exhibits at the museum of modern art and the museum of science of Boston. She excels for her creations and she 's recognized for innovating in her techniques of fabrication, being called out of this time by colleagues and critiques.

Neri Oxman in her perception of the materials and process, achieving to  transcend, innovate and not stagnate in the normal fabrication processes, but taking things further. I discovered her in a Netflix documentary named Abstract and I invite you to watch it. It's totally worth it.
