free topic: plastic

Imagine a world without plastic. For my college seminar project I am working on the creation of a material that in the future could replace the single-use plastics present in our society and obviously I have been shocked with the amount of garbage that we as humans produce. Talking to my mom about her life when she was a child, she told me about how things were sold before and that plastic already existed but it was not so common, everything used to be sold in newspaper "cones", a kind of cones made of newspapers and so they sold everything that today comes in plastic bags.  Life used to be less comfortable, now we want everything immediately and we want it ready, like the vegetables that are sold cut into small pieces and wrapped in a thousand layers of plastic. Sometimes I think about the damage caused by the material but I see it impossible for people to stop consuming it, I try every day to reduce my consumption and even so I never manage to be free, everything has even

Fav class of semester

Today I'll talk about my favorite class of the semester. In design the workshop class is the most important one, and it has 7 levels, each one more difficult than the other and includes all design practices and projects. To me it's one of the most challenging classes, but also one of the most funniest in almost 4 years.  Being the last year that I'm having a workshop, there's some kind of nostalgia and also some requirements, such as doing 2 simultaneous projects, which consist of doing research in future solutions based on design. It's been a tough year. All the work is in groups and I feel I have a wonderful one. We're almost done with the semester and we realized that we have grown up in everything we have learned.

NERI OXMAN

As I noticed the subject of this blog, I immediately thought about Neri Oxman, an architect and designer who is israeli-american. Nowadays she is a teacher in MIT, a technology institute in Massachusetts. At this institute, she developed her investigation with the group Mediated Matter, and it's recognized for combining design, biology, tech, and ingenierie in the development of materials. Oxman developed a concept of material ecology, with the purpose of defining her work where she fusion ambient design and digital morphogenesis. Her work is often inspired by nature and biology and she uses modeling tools, 3D printing and fabrication techniques such as Silk Pavilion, which is a yarn made of silk worms in a nylon frame. Ocean Pavillion, a fabrication platform based on water who built chitosan structures. She made exhibits at the museum of modern art and the museum of science of Boston. She excels for her creations and she 's recognized for innovating in her techniques of fabri

food lovely food

Hi everyone. Today I'll be talking about food, because it's something fundamental for our lives. I think that because of the pandemic, I took the time to get more in the kitchen and learn new stuff. I'm the only vegetarian in my family so that means that I have to cook myself certain foods and try new ones. I personally love to cook, it’s something that I really enjoy and when I have time, I like to put on a Gourmet touch, to make it more attractive and nice to see. I like to cook more sweet food, but eating more salty food. My favorite food of all time is noodles. I love pastas and trying new accompaniments on them. I also love lentis. I think those two are indispensable foods of my life. With the lockdown, I learned to cook vegan Ramen and I love it. I usually eat Ramen very oftly. Though fruits are the love of my life, I really don’t like raspberries. I think it's because I ate a lot when I was a child and I don't like them anymore. To finish, I'd like you

my most lovely photo

Image
Today I'll show you one of my favourite pictures. These are my two brothers when they were very little. I took it with the first camera that I bought by myself, probably in 2016 or 2017. It was improvised, but it’s so beautiful that I kept it and treasure it. It's very special because these are the people that I care about the most in the world. and my youngest brother doesn’t pay much attention to photos so this was a very unique occasion. They look so happy and I like when they are in that mood, so this photo is amazing to me. I really love these two

Favourite movie!!

Hi everyone! In my first post I mentioned my favourite movie. Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan. It follows some space and time travel vibes, so if you like those topics, you should definitely try it. Now I'll talk about my favourite series, Outlander. It's a drama and fantasy show, set in the 18th century, in Scotland and the Jacobite rebellion. I love movies and series where the plot is set in past times. Though they contain some fantasy, they get attached to real historical events. Being interested in textile design, i watch this kind of films for the clothes’ design which are very interesting and they represent cultures and very other old stuff so it’s pretty cool. The last film I saw was one that I wanted to watch in one of my lessons like 2 weeks ago. it’s called Soylent Green, which is like that movie i don’t see by my own choice. The movie was made in 1973, and the plot was set in 2022, where they present us the world in a very dystopian view. I recommend it

MY FAVOURITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY

Image
My favorite technological tool is a photographic camera. Since i was a child, i like to take pictures and steal some of my family’s cameras, only to do whatever i want with it. When i was 16 i bought my first camera. It was a used camera, but it worked fine. I quite like it, especially because i bought it myself. Now in college, my family gave me a more profesional one and i love to use it and   take pictures with it , especially to the moon and the animals, because it’s fascinating to capture these incredible moments. I use it depending on where i am, because i’m all the time at my home, but i always take it with me when i go out and especially when i ride my bike, becuase of the fantastic landscapes that i can capture. I like all kind of cameras because they represent a frame of the moment, as something symbolical, specia, unique. The photos capture a tiny part of time and that’s captivating. I know that i can live without a camera, but i think that everything is more exciting
